Pruning Hurts

I read a quote from Dr. David Jeremiah yesterday that I just love.  "If you are asking God for something and the answer is slow in coming, remember that you are seeing only one part of the equation".

Life sometimes doesn't make sense. It makes sense to Him. Life is painful. He took the nails. He understands that pain.People you love will baffle you. Do things that make absolutely no sense whatsoever. He watched the Israelites, whom He provided everything for, wander aimlessly for 40 years trying to find something that was right in front of them. He understands human behavior.

Life changes. Circumstances change. Hearts hurt. Sometimes we have to let people go.  In the fleshly realm it may appear that we've lost the battle. Deep gut wrenching pain here on Earth. In the Heavens? A great and mighty Creator is still fighting for us.

Jesus tells us in John 16:33  "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." Give it to Him and move on with life. Joyfully. That's all any of us can do. It's what He calls us to do.

The enemy can get us so caught up in the messiness that we can't see the message.  God at work.  Our flesh wants to do the work for God. To fix it. Honestly? He's the great physician. The only One who can fix any of us. The One who will wipe away all of our tears.

Whatever or whomever you are emotionally waging battle with: (1) forgive them (2) love them (3) let them go. Trust that the Lord of Lords is sewing the tares and pruning the bare branches. Trust that He's preparing you both for new growth.

Believe that He knows how much pruning physically hurts (remember those nails?) but is necessary for beautiful blooms. Then wait. Some pruning yield immediate results. Other prunings take several hard seasons to come back beautifully. In His perfect timing you will see new life.

In the meantime pray, trust Him, and continue to grow your garden.

according to Your word"-Psalm 119:28
