I woke up at 6AM. Eight hours later and one toradol, one fiorecet, one phenegran, and one benadryl later the migraine was still hanging on. But bearable. I dressed. We drove the half hour to my neurologist. "Woah, you look terrible" he says. Four shots to the skull later I was feeling somewhat human.
We all have something. Each and every single human being on this earth has some kind of hardship. The grass is never greener. Y'all get that right? No one's life is perfect. Not the skinny blonde in yoga pants in the $100,000 car in the carpool lane. Not the neighbor who has the child who just got into every single prestigious college they applied too. Not the friend who is building the million dollar home. And not the acquaintance from church who is traveling to exotic places for every holiday on the calendar. Everyone has something.
How we handle our "something" is what matters. One of my favorite scriptures is:
"The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him"-2 Chronicles 16:9
God loves us so much that He's looking for us. He wants a relationship with us. He wants to lift us up. Strengthen us. If we are committed to Him? He's there for us! He knew my head was going to explode. He knew I was in so much pain that I couldn't even pray. Yet I was able to petition to Him my pain. And He heard me! He hears all of us. Isn't that awesome?! Think about that. Really think about it. I don't hear a good percentage of my kids requests and I love them with all that I am. When they were little they'd wear me down. I may or may not have tuned them out quite frequently. God? Heck no! He searches the whole earth to hear us. Isn't that the most exciting thing ever?!
We are living in perilous times. We must have a firm foundation in Christ. It doesn't matter that we have "junk". That junk is strengthening our hearts here on earth. It doesn't matter that it appears others have it far easier. Trust me they don't. What does matter is that we've given our lives to Jesus. That He is our Lord and Savior. The difficulties that we all live with are real. I'm not discounting that. But they are not forever. Living in the Kingdom of God? Now that is forever. And then, and only then, will life be gloriously perfect.
