Skeet, Barbecue and Rambunctious Children

Last Saturday we hosted a farm party. We don't have any out buildings so we just set up tables, chairs, food, mosquito machine and Robin's fancy smanshy skeet thrower. We had invited our friends for food, fellowship, and to watch the sunset over the soybean fields.

It's been a fairly mild summer. Normally we don't venture to the farm in the summer. It's too hot, too many bugs, and too many snakes. This summer, however, has been different. The humidity has been bearable and the nights cooler. The sunsets. Have you seen them? The reds are redder, the pinks are fuchsia, the sun a fire in the sky. All I've thought about this summer is making sure I see the sunset! The sky has been spectacular.

What is God telling us with the sky? Is He talking to us? Teasing us with a glimpse of Heaven? Is He getting us in the habit of looking up? The wisemen and the shepherds knew to look to the night sky. They also knew, prior to Jesus' birth, that the sky had changed. That God was getting ready to do something big.

The media has been all a buzz about the coming "red moons" over the next year. Some think it's coincidence or just hype. I don't think so. I think it's pretty significant. Even main stream reputable preachers such as David Jeremiah and Anne Graham Lotz believe that God is getting ready to do something spectacular.

Here is what Anne Graham Lotz recently posted on Facebook:

"This year, 2014, there will be two total lunar eclipses, or what’s referred to as “blood moons.”  They fall on the the divinely appointed feasts of Passover (April 15) and Tabernacles (October 8).  Next year, 2015, there will be two more total lunar eclipses, or “blood moons,” that will fall on the very same feasts of Passover (April 4) and Tabernacles (September 28).  Right in the middle of these four blood moons will be a total solar eclipse which will take place on the Jewish New Year, March 20, 2015.  And arching over the second blood moon this year, the solar eclipse next year, and the third blood moon, is the Jewish Sabbatical year in which God commands the Jews to focus on Him.  Without a doubt, God is using the ordinary for something extraordinary.  He is trying to get our attention."

Ironically, tonight, August 27, 2014, the entire world will be able to witness "two moons". What you will actually see is Mars being positioned closer to the earth than it ever has before. With Mars next to the moon it will appear to be "two moons". This event will not happen again until the year 2287.  Yes, God definitely  is trying to speak to us thru the sky!

Just like the days of Noah we are a corrupted, morally bankrupt, morally deprived, detached, and divided society. Even the church has let satan keep us so wrapped up in busy-ness that we've taken our eyes off what The Lord is telling us.

Turn on the local news or cable news and it's full of crime. Not just random crime but sick, demented, violent acts against man, children and nature. Many of these deeds are incomprehensible . For most us we simply just can not fathom or wrap our heads around it.

Why has the world gone mad? Simply put: we have turned our back on the Good News. The minute you take yourself out of Godly surroundings, instruction, and friendships you become like the world. Before you know it you find that you're just like everyone else. A few cuss words here and there, a little nudity in what you watch, a little soft porn on mainstream cable shows, a few sexually explicit music lyrics. It all starts to blend together and seems to be ok and the norm.

Timothy describes it much better than I do: "Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people's hearts, and they will learn the truth. Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil's trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants." (2 Tim 2:25-26)
Satan has our whole society held captive!

"Elizabeth, you're ridiculously crazy! That's bible thumbing talk". Well, is it? Think back to when you were a kid. I remember specifically when Tampax started advertising on TV in the 1970's. I was so incredibly embarrassed --especially if my Dad was in the room. People were not used to discussing anything so personal. Fast forward forty years. My daughters dorm is openly referred to as "Tampon Towers" because it's an all girls dorm. I'll admit I thought it was pretty funny. But you get my point.

Once we become overloaded with sick news crimes, overtly sexual TV shows, and music it becomes "normal".  As simple as that satan has us and we don't even realize it.

When our children are being rambunctious we are annoyed. We explain why and hope they'll listen. When they misbehave we worn them. When they continue with the same behavior we punish them.

"Give me a break, Elizabeth!" Hmmm, really? Things were so bad during Noah's day that God flooded the earth to wipe all the sin away. What makes us so arrogant to think He won't do it again?

If we believe scripture to be Gods word, and I hope you do, then you know that God is coming again for His church. Our world has so far surpassed the evil days of Noah--the most corrupt time ever recorded--why would you think He is not going to punish us now?

There is a lot of bad in the world. {But} there is  a lot of good too!  I see a great revival coming. People are hungry for (the) Good News, for the Gospel, for the hope of Jesus in such hopeless times. If your family members don't know The Lord it's time to introduce them.  He's speaking to us loudly! Nations are at war, disease is rampant, and the weather is beyond bizarre. "Natural" disasters are happening so frequently, around the globe, that the news media is not even covering the majority of them.

The sky. Look up at the sky. Look at His wondrous sunsets. Look at the spectacular display of stars in the night sky. He's trying to get our attention because He adores us!   Respond to His call.

"The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands."-Psalm 19:1
